Novelist and humorist extraordinaire, Charles Dickens died on this day in 1870 of stroke. Dickens is undoubtedly considered one of the titans of literature and with classics such as Oliver Twist, Nicholas Nickleby, David Copperfield, A Tale of Two Cities and our personal favorite Great Expectations, it’s no wonder.
Honestly, this post is something of a challenge to write. Not for lack of content, we assure you… but for sheer volume! *winks* What can be said of Charles Dickens? He was a thorough writer for sure. In our opinion, he was particularly good at drawing readers into a world that could have been real and introducing us to characters that you could almost reach out and thump on the back!
A great resource for all things Charles Dickens is David Perdue’s Charles Dickens Page.
We encourage our readers to check out the link above and if you haven’t already- go out and grab some Dickens…er…you know what we mean.
Read it, absorb it, adore it!
Write on in peace, Mr. Dickens!
